Our rare breed Large Black pigs enjoy a fantastic free-range lifestyle, living constantly outdoors foraging and uprooting large areas. They have access to insulated housing (which keeps them warm enough during the Winter and cooler during the Summer months), shaded areas, and wallows.

We carefully group our pigs, giving them the opportunity to form social bonds. Male piglets are moved to adjacent pastures at ten to twelve weeks of age, beyond the time that their mothers have naturally begun the weaning process. The piglets remain in their social groups until they leave, at which point we personally transport them in order to ensure minimal stress and optimal product traceability.

We have begun planting areas of native woodland and orchard in order that our pigs – which are naturally forest dwelling creatures – can live closer to nature’s intentions, whilst also benefiting wildlife and the environment.
